I sent a email to Tim Wheatley @ ISI today re the above issue and had a response from him today! see below...
Hi J,

There are guides up at rfactor.net.

You can join the server via IP, which will always work, or you can move to steam and use the Matchmaker build into Steam at the moment.

I've tried the IP way to connect but that doesn't work? And I am not sure about a transfer to steam with all my autoupdater files - Has anyone got access to Rfactor through Steam using 'RENNSIMULANTEN'?

And a further response from ISI.....

At this time, it has the answer to where there is no matchmaker.

- Is the rFactor ISI matchmaker down?
rFactor is now Steam-only. Server listings are available in the Steam client. Hosts need to be using the Steam version for it to show there. IP direct connection is always available, and most leagues use that.

Seems we need to migrate Rfactor to Steam.....to continue using it!!!

Hi,
Thanks Jim for the IP's location! And direct connect not working for me

You can read on rfactor.net - under heading 'Frequently Asked Questions' find a link to 'This Form' which you can transfer over to steam your Rfactor account. I request for my game code from ISI which came today.....BUT I am not sure about which files I must move. And how to protect them from steam updating over important updater files downloaded from Rennsimulanten.de

Strange how I did not know about this....sudden migration to steam? Silent and deadly indeed!!

Before I transfer to Steam I would like to know if anyone else has already done it? And how I can make sure I keep all my important 'Rennsimulanten.de' file.
